FAQs
What protocols does Strange Escapes have in place regarding Covid-19?
Strange Escapes protocols will mirror that of whichever venue we are in for each individual event. If there are any regulations or rules that attendees will need to be aware of we will email them to ticketholders in advance.
Do we need to bring our own investigative equipment?
If you are attending an event that features a paranormal investigation, we do require you bring a flashlight. Other than that, feel free to bring as much or as little as you would like. Keep in mind that most events require frequent rotations throughout a location, so anything that requires extensive set-up is discouraged. Also, you will be investigating in groups, so be courteous in your equipment choices and be sure to ask before you use anything that could disrupt others’ investigation.
What is your refund policy?
There are absolutely NO exceptions to the below policy.
183-365 Days from Event start date, 100% credit given, (minus ticket fees)
90-182 Days from event start date, 75% credit given, (minus ticket fees)
45-89 days from event start date, 50% credit given, (minus ticket fees)
Less than 45 days from event, no refunds or credits available.
Please note, any requests for cancellations result in the above Strange Escapes credits equaling the amount of your ticket price, not ticket type, minus any ticketing fees. (i.e. if your VIP ticket cost $500, you will have $500 in credit for use at a future event, not another VIP ticket for a future event.)
Credits will expire two years from ISSUE date.
We HIGHLY recommend travel insurance. The folks at allianz.com has many policy options to fit your needs.
The above refund policy does not apply to Strange Escapes at Sea Cruises or Excursions. Due to the unique nature of cruise bookings and up front costs incurred by Strange Escapes, all cruise deposits and excursions paid directly to Strange Escapes are non-refundable. No exceptions.
Any cruise fare portion, paid to the cruise line or travel agency, will be subject to their specific refund policy.
Will I get to meet each “celebrity” in attendance?
YES. Most people come away from our events stunned at just how much time they were able to spend with our “celebrity” guests. The fact is, most of our speakers are completely down to earth and don’t even remotely consider themselves celebrities. They will take photos with you, sign autographs and answer any questions you may have. The people we invite to be our speakers and special guests are just as pleased and eager to meet you, their fans, as you are to meet them!
Is there an age limit to enter the event?
We strongly recommend attendees be ages 12 and older. ANY attendee under the age of 18 must have written permission from a parent or legal guardian to attend and MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
While in a pinch, we can manually look up your registration, a printed ticket speeds up the registration process.
Does my ticket price include hotel or travel?
No. Your ticket is for the actual event only. Any travel or lodging is your responsibility. Usually, we will have negotiated special room rates for events which take place in hotels and that information can be found on the event page.
Are locations handicap accessible?
Many of our locations are deemed historic and are therefore NOT accessible. Please contact us BEFORE purchasing tickets to determine whether the Escape will meet your needs.
I can only attend a portion of the weekend, can I receive a discount?
No. Unless otherwise indicated, our registration fee is for the entire event. You are not required to stay for the entire event of course. We do ask that you arrive for registration though, as our staff does not have everything necessary for registration with them at all times.
Is your home office open for visitors?
Our home office is open by appointment only. We do occasionally host workshops there, which are posted under the Strange Education portion of our web site. We ask that you do not show up to the office as it can disturb other tenants.
How many people attend the investigation portion?
Depending on the location, groups are split up and rotate through out the venue to investigate. Larger events are split into two nights of investigating, to keep groups smaller.
I will be arriving late, what do I do?
We have a very specific check in window. Upon check in, you are required to show photo ID, sign a waiver, pick up your hand outs and materials for the weekend and collect your badge or wristband. This is a process that is set up and taken down after registration, so if you arrive late, our staff will do their best to accommodate you – but there is no guarantee they will be able to check you in as soon as you arrive. Many times, the staff has moved on to the meet and greet, which tends to be very busy, so you may have to wait until after.
We suggest you plan your travel accordingly, so as not to miss any of the fun!
What if there is inclement weather?
Our events happen regardless of weather conditions. Please pack and dress accordingly.
